Frigidaire Air Conditioners

The first electric refrigerator was introduced to the public in 1913. In 1915, Alfred Mellowes created a new version of the original unit and by 1916 the Guardian Frigerator Company was asked to manufacture Mellowes’ refrigerator. General Motors saw the potential of the company and, in 1918 they bought it and renamed it Frigidaire. Mass productions began, production facilities were improved and additional sales offices were opened.
Before long, Frigidaire was one of the fastest growing home product companies in the world. Today, Frigidaire is owned by Electrolux. Frigidaire also operates a number of other popular brands, including White-Westinghouse, Tappan and Gibson.
Frigidaire has a rich history of innovation, including the invention of the electric self-contained refrigerator and the home food freezer. Frigidaire also claims to be the first company to have mass produced a room air conditioner.
The smaller, appliance-sized air conditioners remain a specialty with Frigidaire. Their window casement units and window unit air conditioners are all outstanding products. A
