Rheem Prestige Series RARL-JEC Air Conditioner

Expect to keep cool no matter what the outside temperature is with the Rheem Prestige Series. Air conditioners in this series provide energy-efficient features and a durable design that can handle all of the weather's harshness while perfecting indoor conditions. This cooling device features up to 17 SEER performance and a diagnostics system that helps ensure that this air conditioner is working at its best. The SEER performance rating of 17 is not as good as most of the models on our lineup.
The Rheem Prestige Series controls the airflow of the device to ensure you are kept comfortable and free from unwanted moisture. This central air conditioner features an on-demand dehumidification feature. It includes a two-stage compressor, which is better than the old, one-stage units but not as efficient as some modern units.
One of the advantages to this central air conditioning unit is its Comfort Control2 System. This system provides 32 onboard diagnostics and fault history codes to help detect any problems or issues that may arise. If any serious problems are found, a Call for Service alert will be sent to the thermostat to let you know that problems have been discovered.
The Rheem Prestige Series features a louvered jacket that protects the coils of the device from any destructive elements. This air conditioning system is fairly quiet. It reaches a 71-decibel output, which is low enough that it won't bother you or your neighbors while it's running. However, it isn't the quietest AC unit we considered.
To fully run this central air conditioning unit, you need a minimum circuit ampacity of 34.8 and a maximum overcurrent protection of 60. Additionally, the minimum voltage required is 197, while the maximum is 253. This Amana air conditioner features coil and temperature sensors. It has a Copeland High-Efficiency Scroll Compressor that runs at two different speeds for energy efficiency.
The Amana ASXC18 is a simple yet aesthetically appealing air conditioner. It is a solid, dark grey, which helps prevent it from being an unsightly eyesore outside your home.
One of the standout features of this central air conditioning unit is its lifetime unit replacement limited warranty. This warranty states that if there are problems with the unit and it needs to be replaced, the original purchaser of the unit will receive a new system as long as they live in the same home. Additionally, all parts are covered by a 10-year parts warranty, which is a good length of coverage. This is one of the best air conditioner warranties you will find.

Goodman DSXC18 Air Conditioner

The Goodman DSXC18 central air conditioner has you covered. This unit, available in three different capacities, has a lifetime warranty and environmentally-friendly features. It has a durable design and is quiet enough that it will not bother you or your neighbors.
This air conditioning system provides plenty of energy-efficiency features to help you save money on your electrical bill. This AC unit has met all the Energy Star guidelines, established by the Environmental Protection Agency to reward manufacturers that conserve energy. It also features up to 18 SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) performance. At a rating of 18, this device is excellent when it comes to energy efficiency, but the very best air conditioning units have even higher SEER ratings.
This air conditioning system uses environmentally-friendly R-410A refrigerant. This refrigerant is chlorine-free and is formulated to protect the ozone layer. This central air conditioner also features coil and ambient temperature sensors, a two-stage scroll compressor, high and low pressure switches, and a filter drier.
A high-density foam compressor sound blanket is available to help reduce the sound from this air conditioner. But overall, you won't be bothered by the noise this central air conditioner makes. Its sound output is 71 decibels. This is fairly quiet for this type of device, but it is not the quietest of the air conditioners we considered.
One of the standout features of this central air conditioning system is its excellent warranty. The Goodman DSXC18 features a lifetime warranty on the device. If it fails and you are the original purchaser of the air conditioning system, you will receive a new unit as long as you live in the same residence. All parts on the device are covered by a 10-year parts warranty, which is also an excellent benefit.

TRANE XL15i Central Air Conditioner

The Trane XL15i air conditioner has a SEER of 16.50 (this is the percentage of cooling that the device accomplishes, compared to the energy input it requires). Cooling capacities range from 18,000 to 60,000 BTU/h.

In the range of Trane products, the XL15i falls between the XL16i and the XR15 in terms of cost and efficiency. Trane describes this model as particularly quiet and notes that it also comes with an indoor air filtration system.

The XL15i uses R-410A (more commonly known as Puron) refrigerant. This is a newer type of refrigerant, replacing Freon, which has proven damaging to the ozone layer.

TRANE XR13 Central Air Conditioner

Trane's XR13 air conditioner comes with plenty of technological innovations that make it cost-effective as well as efficient. It also complies with new federal and State regulations with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating of 14. Trane air conditioners are manufactured with durable materials to offer years of reliable and efficient performance.

The Trane XR13 model comes with features such as the Climatuff® Compressor, the Spine Fin® Outdoor Coil, and sound insulator. Baked-on powder paint helps resist rusting of the body while the DuraTuff® non-corrosive basepan takes the worry out of rusting bases.

TRANE XB14 Central Air Conditioner

Categorized by Trane as a high efficiency unit, the XB14 air conditioner operates quietly as it works to lower homeowners’ cooling costs. With a SEER of up to 16.5, it qualifies as an Energy Star product when it is installed as part of a quality HVAC system.

The XB14 boasts many characteristics that contribute to its low operating costs and durability. The single-stage, quietly operating scroll compressor is surrounded by a galvanized steel cabinet. The cabinet consists of full-side louvered doors with a baked-on powder paint and Weatherguard fasteners that are resistant to rusting. The DuraTuff base pan also is designed to resist corrosion. Heat exchange is maximized thanks to the aluminum Spine Fin outdoor coil. This coil also creates low air resistance, which further enhances the unit’s efficiency.

Accessories available for the XB14 include the Trane humidifier, air cleaner and ventilator, to name a few.

TRANE XL20i Central Air Conditioner

The Trane XL20i high-efficiency air conditioning unit offers up to 20 SEER performance. This model uses dual compressors to maximize efficiency by consistently operating with the smaller compressor and only using the larger component when the system detects a drastic change in temperature.

According to the manufacturer, the XL20i boasts consistent, quiet operation due to an adjustable fan motor and compressor sound insulator designed to minimize noise. Additional components, including galvanized steel cabinets, a rustproof basepan, zinc-coated fasteners and a powder-paint finish, contribute to the unit’s durability.

This series also is equipped with Trane's ComfortLink II system, which controls communication between components and can be used to automatically charge, configure and calibrate the unit.

GOODMAN GSX13 Central Air Conditioner

Goodman markets the GSX13 air conditioner as an efficient and reliable product. This three-phase 13 SEER split-system series has models ranging in capacity from 1.5 to 5 tons and producing anywhere from 18,000 to 60,000 BTU/H.

The Smartcoil technology used to enhance the GSX13’s heat transfer capability incorporates refrigeration grade, rifled, 5 mm copper tubing and aluminum fins that reportedly provides a larger-than-average surface area. The coil is protected by a steel louvered guard. The GSX13 also is designed with features meant to soften the operational sound. For example, it has a three-bladed condenser fan covered by a louvered sound-control top.

Goodman produces the GSX13 with a louvered cabinet made with heavy-gauge galvanized steel. The cabinet has a side panel that allows access to the controls and provides enough space for accessories. The liquid and suction line service valves are made of brass.

TRANE XR15 Central Air Conditioner

Trane’s XR15 air conditioner is promoted by the manufacturer as a reliable and highly efficient unit that can help homeowners benefit from low cooling costs. Available in nine models, it has a SEER rating of 17, and qualifies as an Energy Star product when it is installed as part of a compatible HVAC system.

The XR15 is equipped with a Climatuff compressor that is surrounded by its own sound insulator. The Spine Fin outdoor coil, made of aluminum, allows for the highest among of heat transference and is designed for low air resistance. Not only is the outdoor coil resistant to corrosion, but so are the zinc-coated Weatherguard fasteners on the full-side louvered panels. These galvanized steel panels are part of the Quick-Sess cabinet, which provides complete protection of the coil. For additional assurance, the DuraTuff base pan is corrosion-resistant.

For an attractive appearance, theXR15 air conditioner is coated with a baked-on powder paint. For further indoor comfort, accessories including a humidifier, air cleaner and ventilator are available. Trane also offers remote access to the home’s climate control system, known as Nexia Home Intelligence.

AMANA ASX14 Central Air Conditioner

 The Amana ASX 14 is a 14 SEER air conditioner with a high-efficiency design. Other products are available for use with the ASX 14 that allow it to achieve 15 SEER.

The ASX 14 features a heavy-gauge galvanized steel louvered cabinet. It is coated with a post-paint finish that makes it resistant to weather damage. The cabinet is designed with both top and side access panels to allow for easy maintenance, and the filter dryer is factory-installed for operational longevity. A PVC-coated wire grill protects the fan and motor.

This line of air conditioner is available with a single- or two-speed condenser fan motor. It employs Smart Coil condensing coils with aluminum fins and copper tubing. It also is equipped with Copeland Comfort Alert Diagnostics, which detect the cause of problems and relay the information to technicians via LED indicator flash codes. The high-efficiency Copeland scroll compressor is covered by a sound control top of high density foam.

GOODMAN DSXC18 Central Air Conditioner

 Reaching up to 18 SEER, the DSXC18 is Goodman's highest efficiency air conditioning product line. This split-system series includes three models with cooling capacities ranging from 34,000 to 56,000 BTU/H. All models feature two-stage operation and are Energy Star-approved.

The DSXC18 features a Copeland scroll compressor with a high-density foam compressor sound blanket, quiet condenser fan motor and sound control top design to help the unit achieve sound levels as low as 71 decibels. A wire fan discharge grille also contributes to the unit’s quiet operation.

The manufacturer also touts this series’ quick troubleshooting thanks to built-in diagnostics and its compatibility with the Goodman ComfortNet Communication system, which allows contractors to monitor and review data on service calls.

Consumer Reviews of the GOODMAN DSXC18

• We have had our central air conditioning unit since we moved into our house in 2003 so its been about 8 years since we inherited the thing. For the most part there have been very few problems with it. It always does the job cooling the house relatively quickly when we decide to to turn it on which is all we really want from it. There are not too many negatives. One is that sometimes when we put it on and there is a distinct smell that comes from the vents but that is probably just from a lack of cleaning. We had to repair it once or twice throughout the years and it cost about one hundred and fifty dollars each time but only twice in eight years is pretty good. After each repair the air went back to normal. I would definitley buy the same brand again and would recommend Goodman brand central air conditioning units to anyone (friends, family, co-workers, etc).

 

• First of all I will say that I'm extremely satisfied with my two Goodman DSXC18 A/C units. They are matched up with variable-speed furnaces and both systems are whisper quiet. You wanna know why I have had good experience? Simply because I used a very well-known company to install the units. The techs took pride in their work and they made sure everything was top quality. Here's the problem, 99% of these bad reviews are due to bad installation and/or too big or too small equipment. You will find that Goodman uses the same components as other brands. You are basically comparing apples to apples. Please, find yourself someone who actually knows what they are doing to repair or install your unit. Selecting a good installer is the most important factor of choosing a new HVAC system. Brand means nothing.

 Fast,powerful and efficient, Whirlpool's futuristic 6th Sense Inverter Technology with BLDC. The Variable Speed compressor can dynamically adjust the cooling capacity of the AC based on your needs.It can provide up to 20% extra cooling capacity initialy for rapid cooling and then optimize for energy efficiency once the room is cooled sufficiently. Extremely accurate control of the compressor by the 6th Sense Inverter, saves up to 40% more energy, compared to ordinary ACs. The eco-friendly, non-ozone depleting efficiency ensures the AC silently operates with more efficiency and higher energy savings. Whirlpool Inverter technology works with the 180 degree Sine wave DC Inverter. This ensures more energy saving, better consistency, lesser vibrations and quieter operation than a 120 degree Square Wave DC inverter which is normally used by older ACs.
